The 3D topographical map of Alaska available within this application offers impressive offline access to detailed vector map data. Users can utilize this feature while traveling by car, boat, plane, or during hikes, making navigation seamless and convenient.

Scenic Map has expanded its coverage to the entire globe through online maps. Maps are automatically cached for offline use in areas without cellular coverage. By enabling the Online Map feature in the Settings menu, users can explore any location on the planet. The inclusion of satellite image overlays enhances the visual detail and realism of the maps, allowing travelers to uncover features not visible from ground level.

The application supports intuitive navigation through a two-finger vertical swipe gesture to achieve a 3D perspective. Users can choose to scroll through maps or utilize a flight simulator-like experience. The Joystick Gestures feature enables users to navigate terrain using a virtual joystick, or they can opt for traditional 2D maps if preferred.

Scenic Map stands out as an exceptional mobile 3D topo mapping tool. Users can interactively scroll, rotate, and zoom through maps with remarkable smoothness, showcasing every roadway—even at satellite-like altitudes. As one zooms in, minute terrain variations become discernible, highlighting features as small as ten meters. The app benefits from regularly updated road and trail data sourced from OpenStreetMap.org, along with detailed information about urban areas, shopping centers, and various natural features from USGS and Canadian public databases.

The GPS tracking functionality is initiated with a simple tap of the center button. As users move, they generate track files that can be replayed with adjustable playback controls. It is possible to record tracks simultaneously while viewing existing ones for route retracing. Online capabilities include automatic route creation from the user's current GPS location to any chosen point on the map, and track-sharing is supported in GPX format.

Customization options in Scenic Map are unparalleled. Users have the flexibility to toggle road visibility on or off, adjust lighting conditions, and remove terrain shading as desired. Contour lines can be displayed even over satellite images, and five preset styles allow for quick map style changes. Units of measurement can be set to Metric, English, or Nautical, with four coordinate display options including UTM.

For users seeking additional map feature details, a target icon allows them to center a feature under the compass rose for comprehensive information including its name, type, elevation, and geographic coordinates. The status bar provides essential navigation details such as distance traveled and current speed.

In-app support includes comprehensive documentation accessible in the Help section of the Settings menu, featuring links to coverage maps, tutorial videos, an installation guide, and a blog at ScenicMap.com.

Note that Scenic Map supports GPS tracking while running in the background; however, users should be aware that prolonged GPS use may significantly impact battery life.
